B R E A T H I N G S P A C E

Type: Commercial

Status: Completed 2020

Location: Cork St., Dublin 8

Our clients engaged us to aid with the refurbishment and renovation of this vacant commercial space on Cork Street, to allow the inclusion of their newly conceived community wellness centre in the heart of the city. An overhaul of the plan and section were required to allow the formation of the main studio space (yoga), therapy rooms and ancillary spaces. The removal of the former services void uncovered a generously proportioned ceiling height, allowing the spaces room to breath. Sustainable materiality was incorporated wherever possible, including the use of natural rubber and cork floor finishes, allowing a tactile sense of warmth to the space. The existing steel staircase was retained for re-use in the opposing corner of the space and enclosed with a new raw steel balustrade system adding some prominence. Bespoke fitted furniture was formed in green Valchromat. A limited colour palette of pinks and greens was maintained, allowing the client inhabit the space with colourful planting and artwork as they progress.
