The rear garden of the existing terraced dwelling had become cramped with masonry sheds and an earlier extension, reducing the usability of the outdoor amenity space for our client. The focus of the project was to re-organise and re-orientate the additional kitchen and dining spaces so as to make the most of natural light and air and to improve the proportions of the resultant open space. Horizontal timber cladding links the forms of two distinct extensions as well as providing an undulating surface for the play of light and shadows.
